One humane way to kill the squirrel is by the process of asphyxiation of carbon dioxide a solution that can be made by you that can kill the rodent. Here are the steps in making the solution;

• Mix the ingredients.
• Place it on a container, do not seal it.
• The smell and carbon dioxide will suffocate the animal that can lead them to death.

Firearms
If you are skilled and license to have and used a firearm you may use this method. You can kill the rodent by shooting them from a distance. You may use a low caliber of gun, it is just a small animal that will die instantly with the right target of the shot.

Use a Force
This method is the most brutal one, the one with guts will be the one to be able to do this method. You need a hammer or any hard object that can be used to kill the rodent in one blow. It targets the head of the rodent so the brain will be traumatized with a blunt force that will lead the animal to its death. It may be disgusting for some but it is effective.
